About CyberLynx

Cyberlynx is a 501(c) (3) volunteer organization founded in 1996 in Coos County Oregon. Its mission is to both initiate and support projects that “bridge the digital divide” in Oregon’s south coast area.

CyberLynx began as an organization whose mission was to provide an opportunity for community service through telecommunications (e.g. building a web site for the City, refurbishing donated computers and offering literacy training at the Senior Center. Recognizing the lack of both computers and computer literacy in the area, CyberLynx started by training youths about computers, involving them in a project to refurbish old computers and then providing opportunities to use them to train citizens.

Our goal is:

  • Giving technical assistance for community-based projects that promote the use of technology
  • Providing community opportunities for computer literacy and technical skills training.

GREAT NEWS!

CyberLynx has a new mobile classroom.  Thanks to a grant from the Norman F. Sprague Jr. Foundation, CyberLynx now has six laptops that we can bring to classes for student's use.  They are equiped with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2007.  This updates the technology we have, expands the possible venues for classes and increases the topics of classes we can offer.

We are also updating the Heritage Place classroom with 3 new Windows 7 desktops.  We'll keep 2 XP desktops so we can continue to support the Windows XP environment.
